We have recently passed the Autumn equinox here in the southern hemisphere. This makes our now a time of completion of the harvest, a salute to the waning sun, and an aknowledgement that men and women, Sun and harvest, all share in the universal rhythm of birth and death and rebirth. This is our time of rest after labour. The harvest has been gathered and grain and fruit collected. Now we give thanks for abundance with the emphasis on the future return of that abundance. We begin to wind inward to the still point or darkest night of winter! The harvest that has been reaped sustains us through winter, and in our lives this means that the potential we see within ourselves gives us strength to continue. We are aware that every end is followed by a beginning. In this phase we recognise that some things are slipping away and that it is time to let them go from our lives and so make room for the new seeds to grow and form.
From an Astrological point of view we are in an even broader cycle of letting go...Pluto, Venus, Mercury are all encouraging us to be honest about our true values and to let go of what no longer works for us! Lets really embrace this time and the change it brings.Change is the Universe's way of keeping you alive and fresh!!
Following are some ways to recognise the cycle of Autumn in our everyday lives.
1.Decorate your home with flowers such as chamomile for peace and balance, lilies for a belief in the return of joy and all good things, rosemary for rememberance, letting go and meditation, orchids for the beauty in your future.
2.Create an abundance tree! Find a branch fallen from a tree and pot it up, now decorate it with symbols of your existing abundance, photos, flowers, coins, words of love and blessing. Place it somewhere central and add to it when the mood takes you! Give thanks whenever your eyes rest upon it!
3.The following oils and incense are sacred to this time: Benzoin, cumin, rue, lime, ivy, vine, lily, gardinia, snowdrops and begonia. Use them in bath water, as perfume, incense or in an oil burner.
