In General: This week begins with a Gemini New Moon and a partial solar eclipse. Communication, day by day exchanges, and new learning experiences are highlighted. This eclipse is about new beginnings, finding different ways to interact and adding some intellectual diversity to our lives. It can be an excellent period in which to begin a new project that involves writing, speaking, or and anything to do with communication and academic growth. Changes made now can have real long term benefits, but the results could be seen any time within the next 6 month cycle.If there is something that really is not working we will be made aware of this now and the smart thing to do would be to let go and begin a new or make some real fundamental changes! This eclipse is trine to Saturn, signifying a systematic, mature, and no-nonsense approach to realizing goals will bring the most triumph. Mercury is also in Gemini from June 2nd. This makes us all more communicative than usual. On the negative we are all also more easily distracted than usual. If you are celebrating your birthday this week then you are also likely to be celebrating a new job, new course of study, new project or new relationship in the near future! On the world scene this week should see lots of interaction between governments and lots of talk, but it may well not see much action! The words said at this time however will have long term repercussions and any projects that begin now will not be seen for their true worth or disgrace till much later in the year. Locally it is a great time to be social!

Astral Peeks: Our sky this month...

The partial Solar Eclipse 2 June 2011 will not be visible directly from Australia. Maximum eclipse will occur at 7.16am AEST Thursday morning and will be visible from high Northern latitudes (with Northern Sweden ideally placed for this eclipse).
Mercury, Venus, Mars and Jupiter start the month still visible above the Eastern horizon in the morning pre-dawn sky. Mercury then moves back towards the Sun (as seen from the Earth) and becomes invisible for Earth bound observers. Mercury then returns to the evening twilight sky at the end of the month.
Mars and Jupiter both move higher above the Eastern horizon in the predawn sky as the month progresses. Venus however slowly moves back towards the horizon as the month progresses and ends the month starting to be lost in the solar glare.
Saturn is visible high above the Northern horizon once twilight ends.
Uranus rises around 1am mid-month and a telescope will be required to easily identify the planet.
Neptune rises around 10pm mid-month and a telescope will be required to easily identify the planet.
The first total lunar eclipse of 2011 occurs in the early morning of the 16th June, about 1.5 hours before sunrise AEST. Observers in Western Australia will get to see the whole event, while the Eastern States will miss the last partial stages of the eclipse as the Moon will set just after totality. It's a long eclipse, with totality lasting 100 minutes. A good Westerly aspect will be essential as the Moon will be low in the West during totality.
