Astral Meanders 29th May-4th June

In general: Mercury enters Cancer on the 31st and Mars enters Gemini. What folks are saying and thinking is a lot closer to their hearts than usual. The emotional content of everything is increased! At the same time a tendency to rush into and out of things abides! Thoroughness is a thing of the past. It’s important to stay flexible at this time and also to take a breath and get some perspective on things before you react badly! Venus then enters Cancer on the 1st June. This makes the emotions even more intense if possible! It also allows us to be more caring, emotionally perceptive and receptive. In the interests of feeling safe and less challenged we may all begin to nest a little, creating a cozy, intimate atmosphere where all our loved ones feel welcome. If you have a birthday this week then it’s wise to prepare for an intensely sentimental year! You will do your best from a safe and comforting home base. On the world scene emotions rise across the board and weather conditions can also be surprisingly intense. Locally try to slow down!

Thought for the week: Perseverance is not a long race; it is many short races one after another. ~Walter Elliott

Aries

It seems you now have an easier time dealing with your family and feeling relaxed at home than you have had recently. Talking, writing, and studying can be good ways to handle stress now. You possess a natural curiosity and an increased ability to multi-task successfully this week.

Taurus

You can win people over with your words this week. This is also a strong period for analysing your income, and earning power. You seem more practical and rational in your approach to finances during this period. The desire to be self-sufficient and more independent is strong now.

Gemini

You can have an easier time receiving the money that you need this week. When you need it most, it seems to fall in your lap. You could also begin a new money-making project and increase your prosperity. It is an especially productive time for any endeavour that necessitates dealing with words, ideas or facts and figures.

Cancer

With Venus in your sign, you want to bring more balance back into your life and you want everyone to get along better. It’s an excellent time to make enhancements to your physical body via new clothes or a new haircut. Choose this week to become clear what it is you'd like to change, seek, or surmount.

Leo

This week is great opportunity to get rid of clutter in your life, both metaphorically and physically. You could also do a lot of thinking and speculating about your personal happiness and long-term goals. This week is a strong period for pursuing your goals and moving forward with your life.

Virgo

You have an easier time dealing with original, innovative ideas, and enjoy doing things in different, unusual ways this week. You may find yourself doing some multi-tasking regarding career and business matters. In fact this is an excellent period for developing career and professional plans.

Libra

Your ruler, Venus, enters Cancer on June 2nd. It becomes easier to deal with your career and life path, and make the things you want transpire. You could make improvements in your career, be commended for your work or be in the public eye. Your disposition during this phase is to think about the "big picture" rather than the everyday.

Scorpio

You don’t want to get stuck in a rut and feel that there’s so much more out there for you to see and do. You could begin studying something new in this cycle as a result of this restlessness. It's also an easier time for you to approach sensitive and personal matters with prudence and logic.

Sagittarius

You will have an easier time dealing with serious issues and find yourself being more responsible and realistic at this time. Your own thoughts become clearer through dialogue with others now. In fact there is a lot of emphasis on communications with partners and best friends at this time.

Capricorn

Venus enters Cancer, the sign opposite yours this week. You should have an easier time dealing with your loved ones, working with a partner or generally, making compromises. You can find the middle ground, discuss and make peace with people. You are also motivated to learn new skills and improve your output in terms of work.

Aquarius

You like doing little tasks and chores and tackling the things on your to do list this week. When you’re industrious, you feel good. You may also find that your thoughts turn to children, pleasures or romance during this cycle. You will find you are good at expressing yourself now too.

Pisces

There is a strong desire to have some fun this week. You seem to need more time away from work so you can play. Do be careful in communications as you tend to communicate in a more direct and brash manner at this time and you don't come across as too insensitive or abrasive.

Astral Peeks: Another Pyramid with astronomical designs.

Archaeologists have discovered a pyramid in southern Peru, built between 600 B.C. and 50 B.C. ago, would have aligned with two stone lines and the setting sun during the winter solstice. The two stone lines are located about 1.2 miles (2 kilometers) east-southeast from the pyramid. They run for about 1,640 feet (500 meters), and researchers say the lines were "positioned in such a way as to frame the pyramid as one descended down the valley from the highlands." "When viewed in 3D models, these lines appear to converge at a point beyond the horizon and frame not only the site of Cerro del Gentil [where the pyramid is], but also the setting sun during the time of the winter solstice," the research team wrote in a poster presentation given recently at the Society for American Archaeology annual meeting in Honolulu. But this discovery is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. Researchers have found about 50 of these stone lines so far in a flat, dry area near the pyramid. The longest of the lines runs for nearly a mile (about 1,500 m). These lines are straight and made out of rock, unlike the Nazca Lines in southern Peru which were etched into the earth by removing the topsoil and include depictions of animals and plants.

Meditation moments: Slowing down the aging Process.
A University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) study just published in the Association for Psychological Science journal Clinical Psychological Science found that people who reported more presence in the moment (having a greater focus and engagement with their current activities) had longer telomeres, even after adjusting for current stress in their lives. Telomeres are sort of caps at the ends of DNA that prevent the ends of chromosomes from fusing with nearby chromosomes or deteriorating. They are biomarkers for aging and are known to get shorter and shorter when the body undergoes physiological and psychological stressors. What's more, as earlier research pioneered at UCSF showed, the shorter the telomeres, the earlier disease and death can be predicted. the UCSF researchers pointed out in a media statement that mindful meditation interventions, which promote attention on the present with a compassionate attitude of acceptance, are known to benefit many aspects of health. And previous studies have found mindfulness mediation is associated with increased activity of an enzyme known as telomerase, which is responsible for protecting and in some cases, replenishing telomeres. So if you want to stay young, mindfulness mediataioin may be just the thing for you! For more info: http://www.ucsf.edu
