astral meanders 21-27 August 2013


In general: The Sun and Mercury enter Virgo on the 23rd. At this time however, due to the influences of Neptune and Pluto, we will not be thinking too realistically and we could certainly misjudge someone needlessly. Gossip can also escalate and some may find that they are more than usually attracted to their personal addictions. It is a time to be aware of taking the moderate middle road! Venus squares Pluto August 24-26, bringing deep passions, but that also means Jealousy and possessiveness are strong. Avoid starting a new relationship at this time, because it can be characterized by these energies. If you have a birthday this week then it’s wise to check your thought processes before taking action, especially when it comes to relationships over the next 12 months. On the world scene this is a time of muddled thinking and there will be lots of unsubstantiated information flying around! Locally try not to gossip!

Astral Peeks: Sun’s magnetic shift!

Something big is about to happen on the sun.  According to measurements from NASA-supported observatories, the sun's vast magnetic field is about to flip. "It looks like we're no more than 3 to 4 months away from a complete field reversal," says solar physicist Todd Hoeksema of Stanford University. The sun's magnetic field changes polarity approximately every 11 years.  It happens at the peak of each solar cycle as the sun's inner magnetic dynamo re-organizes itself.  Solar physicist Phil Scherrer, also at Stanford, describes what happens: "The sun's polar magnetic fields weaken, go to zero, and then emerge again with the opposite polarity. This is a regular part of the solar cycle."
From an astrological point of view as we prepare for this new solar magnetic flip, we may want to consider what we are completing now, and what issues and themes of the past 11 years we are ready to put behind us. We will also want to think about what magnetic shift we ourselves want to make at this point, knowing that in some ways, we are creating an energetic foundation that will be with us for the next 11 or 12 years.

Meditation moments: Is there a right way??

Don't let the thought of meditating the "right" way augment your stress. You can make meditation as formal or informal as you like, whatever suits your lifestyle and circumstances. For example, they may start and end each day with an hour of meditation. But all you really need is a few minutes of quality time built into your routine. For example you can meditate on cleansing the inner you as you take your morning shower, or sweeping away your troubles as you sweep or vacuum the floor. . Here are some ways you can practice meditation, whenever and wherever you choose:
 Breathe deeply. Take a few minutes to focus your attention on your breathing. Concentrate on feeling and listening as you inhale and exhale through your nostrils. Breathe deeply and slowly. Drop your shoulders and put your tongue on the roof of your mouth to release your jaw. You can do this before you hop out of bed, as you sit down to eat, while you wait for the bus…
 Scan your body. Become aware of your body's various sensations, whether that's pain, tension, warmth or relaxation. Combine body scanning with breathing exercises and imagine breathing heat or relaxation into and out of different parts of your body. Do this as watch TV or listen music, as you wait in a traffic jam…
 Repeat a mantra. You can create your own mantra, whether it's religious or secular. You can make an affirmation for yourself to repeat. Perhaps as you’re driving the car, waiting for a lift or sitting in a waiting room.

 Walk and meditate. Combining a walk with meditation is an effective and healthy way to relax. You can use this technique anywhere you're walking — in a tranquil forest, on a city sidewalk. When you use this method, slow down the pace of walking so that you can focus on each movement of your legs or feet.
