In general: At the present moment we still have a predominance of the water element which gives us greater access to feelings and our inner worlds, but the real issue is that the air element is lacking. Air provides us with perspective and helps us to interconnect and process our experiences cerebrally, so it can be more problematic for us to try and activate our reason now than at other times!Mercury leaves the sign of Cancer and enters Leo on the 8th and as a result our mental processes will turn from the feeling realm of Cancer to the more Self-oriented and high-spirited sign of Leo,however therein lays the dangers of action without clear thought. If you have a birthday this week, then expect this year ahead to be a more feeling than thinking one! Education will centre more around your inner world and less on the intellectual one.On the world scene, with Uranus, Pluto and Jupiter heavily involved in there are likely to be amplified conflicts over religion and ideology.Look out also for weather extremes and financial ups and downs. Locally, it’s not the best time to make big decisions, as we don’t see all the information we have clearly.

Astral Peeks: The Royal baby

Prince William and Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, welcomed their baby boy into the world on July 22nd at 4:24 pm BST.The baby, was born while the Sun was still in Cancer (at 29 degrees, 58 minutes). Scorpio is rising in the chart, which is not surprising as this is the sign of power!The North Node is in Scorpio as well, signifying that the cloak of power is a very likely part of his personal destiny. However, this is actually an extremely watery chart, with not only one Grand Trine in Water (Mars/Jupiter trine Neptune trine Saturn) but two (Chiron trine Mercury trine his North Node). The water element of feeling and sensitivity is the strongest component of the baby’s chart. The royal baby's moon is centred on the twenty-ninth degree of the sign Capricorn, almost exactly opposite his sun in opposite sign Cancer's thirtieth degree. This may indicae that as he grows he will feel that his purpose is in conflict with his emotions. The baby’s Venus is generally well-aspected, indicating that he will be warm and demonstrative in relationships and will have a love of art, literature, music  and travel. What’s striking about the baby’s chart is that there are no planets in the 10th house and this is unusual if he’s to be King one day. The Midheaven is the point of a natal chart that is closely linked to career and accomplishment.
