Astral Meanders March 19-25 2014

In General:  The Moon enters Scorpio in the morning of the 19th, and we’re inclined to be secretive and a little intense. With Mercury now in Pisces we can find ourselves drawn to creative activities more than usual! It’s a great opportunity to learn about our deeper selves through artistic endeavours. Many of us may also find that we are dreaming with more intensity. The 20th sees us celebrating the autumn equinox. Traditionally, the autumn equinox is a celebration of the harvest, as it is when summer has finished giving its fruits, which are collected in preparation for winter, (more on this below). The Sun enters Aries on the 22nd. Aries are renowned for their pioneering, fearless and assertive natures. If you have a birthday this week then you can expect to have a year filled with creativity, spirituality and growth! ON the world scene this week expect some confusion generally and a tendency to not be given the whole truth, which will surface later! Locally get creative, paint, dance, make music, bake a cake!

Thought for the week: Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed.  Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude.  ~Denis Waitley

Aries
This can be a time of healing for you guys on a number of levels if you are willing to see the bigger picture and do the ground work in terms of health and work. During this time, there may also be a tendency to parent your partners which comes from a deep need to comfort and protect those around you.

Taurus
You seem to be doing a lot of thinking and musing about your own happiness and long-term goals this week. You now have the ability to come up with unusual and inventive ideas. You may feel the need to cut down your schedule and take some time out now as life can seem too hectic.

Gemini
Relationships are highlighted this week and new relationships ion particular can blossom. You are also likely to be doing some multi-tasking regarding career and business matters this week. This area of your life is due for some very good news! Don’t let a lack of confidence hold you back!

Cancer
You can get some nice and unexpected support and good news this week and a stronger focus on your responsibilities can helps to improve matters in general, considerably. Missing appointments and other forms of forgetfulness however, could be part of the picture now, so double check your diary.

Leo
You put special effort into making others happy this week and you do so quite successfully at that. Keep your eyes open for social opportunities that seem to come out of nowhere and will be beneficial to you. The only caution is that you could lose touch with handling everyday affairs and vital details.

Virgo
This week requires more care with the sensitive feelings of partners and it is also time to forgive human failings, including your own. Old relationships can highlighted and healing can be done. Creative energy is good and this should be the greater part of your personal focus now!

Libra
Solutions are found, finances are managed well and often have a little boost and great opportunities to manifest your dreams can your way this week! This is not action time, but it is great for laying foundations and making plans! You are entering the door to a marvelous year for Librans.

Scorpio
The retro energy of this week and indeed a good deal of this month can have you feeling a tad off centre! Reflecting and focusing on your inner, spiritual growth is necessary and can make this a time for much good personal development. Getting caught up in the details of the mundane world will make you frustrated.

Sagittarius
Curb spending as much as possible this month, and avoid lending out for the time being. This is an especially busy, and perhaps hectic period on the domestic scene for you. For example, you might take extra work home or find that people drop by your home often during this week.

Capricorn
Besides spending more time tending to domestic affairs, the focus this week is on cultivating and nourishing the inner foundations that support you and your growth. This is a time to collect yourself, to fill your well, so to speak. There can however, also be a tendency to fuss over insignificant matters.

Aquarius
Enthusiasm for higher education, travel, philosophy, or adventure in general may wane a bit this week, perhaps due to some problems or setbacks in your life in general. Love relationships though, tend to be smoother overall and your personal appeal increases this week too.

Pisces
You tend to think about things too much now and need to focus on making yourself relax! Do things that are uplifting and take you out of your overactive head…go for walks, visit a beach, read a good book or meditate. It helps to address anger over deeply buried matters, and learn to better manage your life on an emotional level now.

Astral Peeks: Mabon/ Autumn Equinox March 20th

Technically, an equinox is an astronomical point and, due to the fact that the earth wobbles on its axis slightly, the date may vary by a few days depending on the year. The autumnal equinox occurs when the sun crosses the equator on its apparent journey southward, and we experience a day and a night that are of equal duration. Up until Mabon, the hours of daylight have been greater than the hours from dusk to dawn. But from now on, the reverse holds true.

This is the time to look back not just on the past year, but also your life. In the rhythm of the year, Mabon is a time of rest and celebration, after the hard work of gathering the crops. Of course, this harvest comes in many forms and we are gathering many things. The food that nourishes us is one form of harvest…. But how much else do we have to be thankful for? Friends, family, health, hope, the beauty of the earth, the companionship of special animals, the sunsets and sunrises that we observe in their beauty, the hot mug of coffee that comforts , the peace we have in our world and the ability to share…..

At this time, it is also a perfect opportunity to examine how balance is playing out in your life.
As yourself these questions! Are you balancing work with play and rest? As the hectic summer season winds down, perhaps you can give more emphasis to the inner needs. Are you balancing movement in the world with evolution of your spirit? Your home life with outer commitments? Your caring for others with pursuit of your own fulfillment? Your daily responsibilities with your body's needs? Think about how you can achieve better balance….

Meditation moments: Things to do for the Autumn Equinox/ Mabon

Pagans count Mabon as a time of thanks and blessings,  and because of that, it seems like a good time to give to those less fortunate than ourselves. If you find yourself blessed with abundance at Mabon, why not give to those who aren't? Invite friends over for a feast, but ask each of them to bring a canned food, dry goods, or other non-perishable items? Donate the collected bounty to a local charity.

For those who love craft, it's a great time to start some equinox/ Autumn craft. A few ideas include: make leaf prints, craft a fall wreath, frame fall foliage for decoration and use harvested corn to make corn stalk decorations, make a corn dolly. For those who love food this is the ideal time to get into making preserves, pickles, bottles of drink, sauces and frozen goodies.

Make a list of your inner harvest. An inner harvest refers to all the achievements and experiences that you have had or felt during the past few seasons. This is a way of restoring gratitude into your life, as you realize what you have done and how you have coped with challenges during the past months.

Contemplate. This is a season when the buzzing activity of summer dies down and the excitement of life outdoors begins to relax into the more evenly paced, more predictable rhythm of fall. Think about the ways you have neglected your inner growth and how this might be remedied. Meditate or do tai-chi. Try to find your balance, in the same way that the world finds its balance on the autumnal equinox.
