A dominant backdrop to the first few weeks of November is formed by the conjunction between Mars and Pluto. This is a challenging combination which is often indicative of hostile and demanding behaviour. It’s best to curb this feeling that everything should be our way…and find the compromise in situations instead. Also this month, Pluto aligns with Uranus for a long transit that continues until February 2015. This combination calls us to become actively involved with our life journey, face our fears, make decisions, engage changes and work through issues. In all, Pluto, Chiron and Uranus will help us to clear our paths and stride forward with our lives in a more responsible and active way- if we let them! However, the Full Moon in Taurus on 7th can hold us back a little, making us a tad fearful of change and very keen to keep things just as they always have been. The contrast between earthy, practical, peace-loving Taurus and emotional, transformative, crisis-oriented Scorpio comes full bloom and can make us both emotional and stubborn. Use the full Moon energy to enjoy the familiar but don’t let fears of change cloud your vision of the bigger picture, don’t be too stubborn to move forward. If your birthday happens in November then the year ahead is particularly life changing in a strong and positive way. On the world scene it’s a volatile time, emotions can run high and individuals can be very stubborn about getting their own way. Locally it’s wise to consider reasonable compromise.

Aries

Until the 10th Mercury is in Libra and your communications, both personal and professional, collaborations are highlighted. You’ll be sharing ideas and connecting with someone’s slant on things and even if you differ in opinion, at least this helps you clear up your own thinking. New and improved opportunities are in the wind from the 23rd. Life becomes more outgoing, expansive which tends to raise your energy and you can see possibilities outside of the humdrum box.

Taurus

This month can be a time of much learning through the mirror of intimate relationships. It's not the time to drive your agenda or personal plans forward; it is instead, a time in which you are at your best when you identify the need to form unions, to give back to a special someone, and to compromise in order to find some balance in your life. It's a strong phase for putting yourself into another person's shoes for enhanced understanding of him/her. On a practical level, you’ll be dealing with joint finances and shared resources more than usual.

Gemini

Tidying up routines and general efficiency will be in focus this November. You might come to the realization that you are not using your talents to their full potential the way you are currently doing things. Increasing efficiency in the routine elements of your life may be the solution, as it can free you up to use your talents more often or more completely. Watch out for overwork that subtracts from your overall well-being and happiness though. It's also a good month for education, writing, and speaking.

Cancer

This month you express yourself in a more spontaneous and creative way. There are generally happier connections with children, young people, pets or partners. In general, this energy highlights anything you personally find empowering or nourishing. Others are taking any practical advice you have to give with attentiveness. Just be careful with your levels of tiredness as Mars is not working in your favour and getting rundown can be too easy. Pace yourself. 

Leo

For Leos November will be a calmer month. You should prefer the privacy of the home and family, and focus will be on domestic preoccupations or accommodation, possessions and property. Financially, the influence of Jupiter, now located in Leo, means money will arrive any time it’s required, sometimes even in bigger amounts than necessary! Leo does however need to take care of their health this month as rest and recuperation, from the hectic pace of 2014 so far is necessary.

Virgo

November brings warmth and vitality, and Venus, the planet of love brings romance. Thus, November 2014 will be for Virgos a month of great emotional intensity. Writing, editing, research and intellectual preoccupations in general, as well as lecturing and conveying knowledge, exams, tests and interviews, negotiations, exchanging ideas and goods are highlighted. It’s a very active month for Virgo, characterized by many trips, walks and hikes, sports activities or energy-consuming activities of some sort.

Libra

The first part of November could be rather rough for Librans, but the second part will fully compensate for it: Venus, the planet of love, forms a nice triangle with Uranus, located in Libra's house of relationships, and with Jupiter as well. Therefore, an unexpected reason to be happy and some unexpected relationship joy are highlighted. More financial reward is indicated this month too but you are drawn to spend it on others, your home and surrounds or a project that is dear to you as opposed to spending on yourself alone!

Scorpio

Under a present transit of jovial and loving Venus, in the first part of November, you’ll see life in a very positive perspective. Venus in Scorpio will give you an uncharacteristically joyful and loving mood, add more to your usual irresistibly attractive charm and see you having considerable interest in all of the pleasures of life! This is a very active and satisfying phase in your career life too! Restless energy can bring a few accidents if you are not careful though, so it’s necessary to stay focused as much as possible!

Sagittarius

November bodes especially well for studies and artistic or creative activities. It'll be a beneficial period for social contacts as well, many of which will later on bring profitable collaborations for you. Initially however, your energy is low this month and you need to listen to your body’s needs regarding rest and positive healthy habits! Be prepared to use your naturally philosophical attitude now as the unexpected makes routine and pre-planning of any kind, very sketchy!

 Capricorn

November is a forward moving phase for you guys, when friendships, contacts new and old, or more involvement within a community or a group of kindred spirits could be a crucial feature. A future-orientated chapter when you may be working quite hard to achieve an aim which has been on the backburner for a long time or on behalf of friends or a group. Networking or technology is also well highlighted. Mercury underpins a period in which to discuss, consider, and generally chew the fat in the company of others.

Aquarius

Career, a new initiative, or those who can facilitate your goals will be highlighted this month. You will be taking your overall direction more seriously and be more aware of your outer image, how you present yourself and the impression you are making on others now. It’s a month to be aware that others are watching you! If you put out the right energies you will get the right responses. You’ll also be likely to be thinking bigger and becoming more aware of fresh potential, or a distant possibility.

Pisces

For Pisces November will be a good month for studies and research, for investigation, for accessing further information, for activities that are connected to universities, publishing houses, particular interests, or culture in general. You can achieve quite a lot now if you want to. It is possible that an older ailment will come back to your attention or that some issue will arise related to bones and joints, or caused by by exposure to inappropriate conditions such as the cold or general dampness.

Astral Peeks: Sky stuff…November 2014

November 5, 6 - South Taurids Meteor Shower. The Taurids is a long-running minor meteor shower producing only about 5-10 meteors per hour. It is unusual in that it consists of two separate streams. The first is produced by dust grains from Asteroid 2004 TG10. The second stream is produced by debris left behind by Comet 2P Encke. The shower runs annually from September 7 to December 10. It peaks this year on the the night of November 5. Unfortunately the full moon this year will block out all but the brightest meteors. Those with patience may still be able to catch a few good ones. Best viewing will be just after midnight from a dark location far away from city lights.

November 6 - Full Moon. The Moon will be directly opposite the Earth from the Sun and will be fully illuminated as seen from Earth.

November 17, 18 - Leonids Meteor Shower. The Leonids is an average shower, producing an average of up to 15 meteors per hour at its peak. This shower is unique in that it has a cyclonic peak about every 33 years where hundreds of meteors per hour can be seen. That last of these occurred in 2001. They will radiate from the constellation Leo, but can appear anywhere in the sky.

November 22 - New Moon. The Moon will be directly between the Earth and the Sun and will not be visible from Earth. This is the best time of the month to observe faint objects such as galaxies and star clusters because there is no moonlight to interfere.

Meditation moments: Summer Mindfulness

As we continue to move through the last of Spring and into early Summer, I want to encourage folk to be mindful of the gifts of this season. Try to pay attention to all that you love about this time of year, where ever you may live. Many of these gifts only come around once a year so it would be remiss to miss them!

Take time to be present in the now and experience gratitude for all you have! It is really a gift to yourself when you do this. Summer, with all its colours, sensations, magnificence and abundance is the perfect time to start this practice and fashion a habit of it. When you become more connected to the marvels that are occurring all around you, you become a part of them. Then it stands to reason that you are more naturally aligned with the flow of life. Make it your business to let yourself be guided by the divine intelligence of nature and the seasons. Enjoy!!
