In General: The key question as we enter January 2016 is “what are we going to do to manifest our dreams and inspirations? How can we give them realistic form? With a Sun-Pluto conjunction and a Venus-Saturn conjunction, January 2016 can be powerful and very seriously based in reality. With Mercury Retrograde from 5th to 25th January we will need to keep this energy for planning rather than doing for the most part and be prepared to implement the plans and strategies we come up with in February! Be as per any mercury retrograde period, especially careful of any form of communication, double check what you say or write and try to speak the simple truth. We’ll have some extremely prickly energy to deal with, so try to give yourself something to keep you busy and meditate on transformation and staying centred. Jupiter figures prominently this month too and all Jupiter based activities as a result. Jupiter has to do with justice, culture, spirituality, religion, higher education, tourism, sports, and social activities. If your birthday falls this month then it’s going to herald a seriously focused year that lays foundations for many years to come! On the world scene: With Mercury retrograde in Capricorn from the 8^th we will see more aggressive and angry behaviour from governments and politicians. Also likely are confusing, forceful, unpredictable events. Locally it’s best to focus on the moments and keep positive!

Aries

This month it is important to circumvent your gung-ho tendencies, so that you don not you become a law unto yourself! Functioning in isolation and ignoring good advice will be not be helpful to you. Your impatience to see tangible changes emerging quickly could lead to you ignoring the finer points, essential to make your changes successful. Financially this month can provide well, particularly where you are looking at changing investments around.

Taurus

January 2016 is a positive time for Taureans to re-organize spending and budget. Travel is important and beneficial this month. Deeper understanding and support occurs in the relationship area. Your energy level is high and your stress level is low, making it possible for you to achieve a good deal with negligible effort! Venus in your relationship arena creates a time of attraction when partnerships bloom.

Gemini

Pluto is in a thoughtful mood for you all year, forcing you to face the things you hold deep inside of yourself. You're meant to change in profound ways and renovate yourself and your life for the better, and January is where it all starts. Getting a lot done at work and getting on top of myriad small projects however, comes easily now! Self-expression is highlighted with pleasure planet Venus and upbeat Mars stimulating your natural talents and creativity.

Cancer

Feeling reserved and incapable of communicating your deeper feelings can be a problem that thwarts your attempts at getting close to others this month. You have your guard up, and a pre-occupation with thoughts of a serious nature means you hold back with others. You need a hug right now, yet you’re not giving off the indications needed to get one. It is also a great time to buy new communication gear, negotiate contracts or look at study options.

Leo

The need for patience is strong now, try not to rush everything along, you will regret it! Mars is in your home and family sector in January and into February, so you start the year focused on your home and family life. Be malleable with whatever happens, and don't set anything in stone. Taking the time to relax and rejuvenate would be a good choice now. Finally there is space and time to wind down a little!

Virgo

This is in many ways a lucky month for you; unforeseen enjoyable surprises and changes can create opportunities for pleasure, expansion and personal growth. This is a great time to start a new course of study. Your physical energy is high and you arouse the confidence and collaboration of others. It’s a very creative and pleasurable start for the year. Home improvement or changes, plus working on, or from, your home are highlighted.

Libra

January 2016 will encourage imagination, artistic expression, beauty and harmony for Librans. The second part of January will make you aware of the need for some changes and you might even take some measures in this direction. Look inside of yourself, and repair the areas that have been shaken in 2015, and make yourself stronger for moving forward. Mars also suggests that this is a good time to be working on your fitness.

Scorpio

It is a very demanding month, but you can get many things done this month, especially if you work in solitude. It is wise to tie up loose ends in January, so if there is something you have left incomplete, and that has nagged away in the back of your mind, then finish it and tick it off the list. Your new sense of responsibility also means that you’re looking for the same sensibility in others. No timing wasting here.

Sagittarius

Aquarius

Busy and hectic, January is an exciting time of new starts and promising new contacts socially and professionally – some of these may take a while to bear fruit, patience is needed. Be clear and be calm; you tend to be a little jumpy and presumptuous this month, and you really do have to take a step back and have a good look over things. Other people are picking up on your signals or you’re meeting like-minded folk now too.

Pisces

As you enter January 2016 your mind is sharp, animated, and ready for anything. It is a good time to underpin how you stand on any given situation, and communicate with scrupulousness and frankness. Group discussions are to be expected to be positive and you will command the admiration of others. Travel is probable. Venus helps with friends and they are more supportive than usual.

Chinese New Year 2016 will be the year of the Monkey. The monkey ranks ninth of the 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac. Each year is related to an animal sign according to a 12-year-cycle.

2016 is the Year of the Fire Monkey, fire being the dominant element this year. (The other elements are wood, metal, water and earth)

Fire brings huge energy and determination to enterprises. Jostling to gain the upper hand can cause problems for groups and institutions.
