What does astrology do?

Astrology can be understood as a working tool that helps to explain life, rather than some form of mysticism or an intuited prediticive method. Instead of delineating what the Planets do to us, we use astrology to explain ourselves and our journey, based on planetary indications. There is most definitely a connection between all living things and all matter on this Planet. Astrology ties us to our world, and to each other. We are all influenced by the same planetary interactions, and we are all part of the same cycles.

Despite all these connections, Astrology does not intend to tie you to being a certain way, and it doesn't predict everything about you. What it does do, is explain the energy in your life, your personal energy make-up and the potential challenges and possibilities created by these unique variables. You can and should evolve from an understanding of your chart. A good astrologer should enable you do this.

My personal belief is that an astrological chart is like a mandala and the process of drawing or creating the mechanics of the chart is actually a process of being drawn into the individual’s inner life and cosmic journey. Like-wise the process of understanding your own chart is one of being drawn into your own inner world.
