General: The big event this week is of course the total solar eclipse which occurs at today’s new moon in 29 degrees of Cancer. This eclipse will be visible in the region covering India, Southern and Eastern Asia, Japan, Northern Indonesia, the Philippines, and the Western & Central Pacific Ocean. The effects from an astrological perspective are numerous and eclipses generally suggest seismic or earth activity for a period of up to four months after the actual event. Changes in weather and unexpected humanitarian issues can all be a part of this eclipse pattern but the effect is not always instant so expect to see the fall out effect of the eclipse over a longer period. Traditionally the effect will be felt 1 year for every minute of eclipse which gives us five years of true effects resulting from the eclipse. On a personal note the eclipse is a good opportunity to let go of any baggage that is not helping us in order to make way for new people, projects and plans for our better future. It is a time to encourage nurturing relationships and to learn to value the self. So enough on the eclipse…the week itself is also full of other energies like, Venus and Neptune which encourages artistic pursuits and social gatherings, and again Venus and Jupiter which suggests it is an excellent time for big dreams and plans and motivating others to help and support you in these! The sun moves into Leo, sign of the warm and fun loving lion. If you have a birthday this week then expect a big and formative year! You will be sorting the wheat from the chaff and making some fundamental changes. On the world scene we can expect some startling and unusual events, with the people that will be important over the next five years making a big splash. Locally we are urged to get organized and make the most of our world.
