In General: This Last Quarter Moon phase points to some sort of crisis of perception. Mercury is in Leo from July 17th, bringing a grandeur and larger sense of self confidence to our thinking. The focus is now on the goal and the more impressive a goal the better, or so it seems! This is not however, the best time to start a major project, as the declining light of the Moon symbolizes a descent into the unconscious, passive arena of life rather than the energetic active arena. In general this week though, is great for getting things done. It’s a great time for completing already begun projects. It’s also a good time to take care of your most important unfinished business as Mercury sextiles fervent Mars. If your birthday falls this week then the year ahead will be full of big ideas and possibilities. Just be sure to get your priorities right! On the world scene we can expect some big ideas to be put forward, but their success may not be all that is envisaged. Locally get those odd jobs you have been putting off out of the way now!

Astral news: Coming up on the new moon of 22nd is a full solar eclipse. This is one of nature’s most spectacular phenomena. As the earth slips into the moon’s shadow, the sky darkens and an uncanny twilight covers the earth. This is the only time when the sun’s atmosphere, the solar corona, is visible as a bright halo around the black disc of the moon. While this will only be visible in its entirety in China it is still a significant event. There will be 5 minutes and 40 seconds of totality (weather permitting). As a result of this condition you would also be able to witness the world famous Chinese Qiantang River Tidal Bore. The gravitational pull of the moon and sun will create a wave several metres high as the high tide penetrates the relatively narrow river mouth.
