In General: this week heralds the first of many returning
cardinal grand cross hits, followed by Venus retrograde until almost February,
so it’s rapidly getting harder to know what we want from life or where exactly
we are going. Uranus is now stationed direct but experiencing an ongoing
difficulty with Pluto that can cause irritating arguments and unexpected
upheavals. It’s all about the unpredictable response and this configuration
requires extra diplomacy from all of us. The sun enters Capricorn on the 21st
where sincerity, business, and the drive to reach individual goals is
highlighted. It can be tricky for those who are still confused about these.
Mercury then enters Capricorn on Christmas Eve, and everyone wants a clear,
logical answer to their questions…again difficult for those whose realities are
more creative. Best to be the smiling but quiet observational one at parties
this year if you don’t know exactly what you are saying or why, small talk just
won’t do… that way you can avoid the inevitable squabble or two.

This week you can
experience opposition from others around you, so be aware. Watch for impulsive
behavior on your and others behalf. You are more interested and engrossed in, accomplishing
something of lasting value now. Your inclination during this cycle is to think
about the big picture rather than the everyday details of things.
Taurus
There can be some
confusion and even backtracking this week. People from your past might
resurface in your life, confusing the present; or existing relationships may need
some redesigning. This is an outstanding period for reworking your finances,
but do take your time when it comes to key decision making.
Gemini
This is a time when
you are most desirous of change on a profound level. Clearing out on many
levels or ridding yourself of bad habits may be part of the picture now. Watch out for a disagreement
over joint finances, be diplomatic and hold back any anger. What you say now
can have bothersome consequences.
Cancer
You need the
energies, camaraderie, and support of other people in your life at this time. It's important to make an effort to include others rather
than to go it alone for the time being. You may also have more drive to invest in homemaking,
house upkeep, re-decorating, or family events.
Leo
This Venus
retrograde phase can bring the need to look over work and health strategies. You
may need to make some changes. It's time to bring direction to your life by concentrating
on the little things that make up the whole. This time is an opportunity to get
rid of what doesn't work in your life, while also enhancing what does.
Virgo
You may be
undervaluing or overvaluing someone during this phase. For some of you, it can
be a little tough trying to derive satisfaction from your romantic and creative
undertakings. Watch out for impulsive spending, which can just be a way of
trying to fill the gaps in your satisfaction with life.
Libra
From the 21st,
family matters come into stronger focus. Your mind is particularly inquisitive during this phase,
when education, short journeys, and other forms of communication appeal to you strongly.
Some of you can be fidgety or anxious now, perhaps due to increased activity, phone
calls, and interaction.
Scorpio
You are particularly
resourceful now, and you could find yourself enjoying attention for your
general know-how. The facility to express and communicate your ideas is very
important to you at this time. You are quite eager to investigate new things, especially
things scientific or technical.
Sagittarius
Right now it is
about being bold and brave, and making no apologies for being yourself. This may also be a
restless time when it is hard to turn the intellectual process off …even when
it would be better to unwind! It is an especially productive time for any
endeavor that necessitates dealing with words, ideas or facts and figures.
Capricorn
This specific time
of the year smiles on your individual undertakings. This is a time when you can
get in touch with a true sense of your identity and resolution. The most inventive
side of your nature surfaces, and it's a great time to grasp opportunities that
come your way. This

Astral Peeks: Mid-summer
Solstice
December 21st marks the beginning of the Summer
Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere. This means that we will be observing our
longest day of sunlight.
The gardens are flourishing, and summer is in full
swing. Also called Litha, this summer solstice focuses on celebrating the supremacy
of the sun. It's the time of year when the crops are growing vigorously and the
earth has warmed up. We can spend long sunlit afternoons appreciating the
outdoors, and getting back to nature. The word “Solstice”
comes from the Latin words, sol sistere – “sun stand still”. Long
ago, pagans didn’t denote “midsummer” as the first day of summer—for it wasn’t
then and isn’t now—save for our modern society deemed the day so. How ironic
that after this longest day the daylight gets shorter! So our ancestors
realized Summer Solstice is the beginning of the END of summer.
The Celts & Slavs celebrated the first day of
summer with dancing & bonfires to help increase the sun's energy. The
Chinese marked the day by honouring Li, the Chinese Goddess of Light. For us it
is a time for giving thanks, for the harvest …both literal and symbolic, we can
spend time appreciating all we have achieved in the past cycle and enjoying all
we have.
If you feel energetic then try making small sun
wheel garden, either indoors or out using the flowering herbs of vervain and St
John’s Wort and Sun herbs such as frankincense, juniper, rosemary and saffron
and all yellow or golden flowers. Arrange them in the form of a wheel and fill
in the centre with tiny golden crystals or glass nuggets. You can breathe in
the golden light from your living sun wheel.
