In general: This week should be unexciting with very
little but lunar happenings in the sky. We could actually get some work done
and find ways to make life in general easier. Pluto sextiles Chiron on the 4th,
however and this can bring about some deep, transformative or peak experiences.
There can also be a tendency to seek out the unusual, the hidden and the
untried! The 5th could bring a little romantic interlude. Creative energies
will be sturdy, and there could be some extra inspiration. Intuition should
also be strong. For those having a birthday this week the year ahead will prove
insightful, rewarding and life-changing. On the world scene watch out for the
fourth plus and minus a day, what happens around this time will have long term
outcomes. Locally trust your intuition!
Thought for the week: Simplicity is the ultimate
sophistication. ~Leonardo DaVinci
Aries
This week Venus encourages love and sensitivity,
Mars inspires desire, Uranus carries some surprises and the Sun highlights all.
Everything is at its best this week, with a peak around the 7th. With work and
finance you'll follow your aims resolutely, but you won't make all your goals
public yet.
Taurus
Unfortunately you guys won't have the best start to
your month. You might experience disagreeable frustrations or disappointments.
It may just be an inactive period, where you feel
unmotivated. You are low in energy and could do with a rest, change of scenery
or some time out.
Gemini
This week you'll easily find the essential resources
to reach your ends. You can now rally the others more effortlessly to support
you. You'll make new friends, whose are intelligent, and full of vitality. You'll
be in a good shape, have lots of energy and feel optimistic about life in
general.
Cancer
Uranus, Mars, the Sun and Venus create a line-up
that will help you to stand out, prosper and generally do your best whenever
desirable. There is so much energy around you that it won't be possible for you
to stay sedentary. You could do with being a little more flexible where
relationships are concerned, however!
Leo
Venus will continue to enhance your personal charm
this week, Leo. Venus is in charge of teamwork, good relationships and
entertaining, ingredients which are extremely useful to those who want to
improve their status or their position, both socially and at work. You
should have the energy of two people, now!
Virgo
You may seem overtly tense now due to the tendency
to worry more, have doubts or manifest issues within relationships in general.
You'll want to over-analyse, presume or investigate every aspect of people. Glitches
connected to loans, debts, or money in general will most likely arise.
Libra
There is a lot of energy about you now and it can be
hard but very necessary to focus! Professionally speaking, this is a week of
partnerships and agreements. There will be a lot of drive within new social
interactions, which could result in new alliance or agreement. You need to
remember to relax as well!
Scorpio
All your energy seems to be invested in work and
practicalities now. You'll fully pledge yourself to your work. Either you will do
something that you take a lot of interest in or you feel very passionate about
it. The good thing is that the credit for your virtue will not be revealed only
in the glory, but in your income as well.
Sagittarius
This week is the beginning of an auspicious period
for you Sagittarius, in which you will find yourself in the right place, at the
right time, in order to take advantage of a surprising opportunity or to
highlight your best assets. You'll profit from a big wave of
physical energy at this time too!
Capricorn
Even if you take it easy now as you are want to do,
you'll still be making future plans. Saturn will simply insist that you look
ahead and develop strategies for your future. You'll be in a progressively
better shape physically and as a result, you'll have more than enough energy
and a great work capacity.
Aquarius
Jupiter will bring along opportunities this week but
don’t let them get wasted as it’s easy to avoid connecting now. You feel happy
in your little bubble and don’t see any need to reach pout into the wider
world! There will, nevertheless, be risks of accidents this week and you need
to focus!
Pisces
Mercury's transit through your sign will bring the
others closer to you, either physically, or mentally. it would be a good thing
if you got involved in something now and had a firm focus or you could find you
spend more money than you want to in idle activities. You may feel restless.
Astral Peeks:
In an article
for the Outlook.com website BBC News Science Correspondent Jonathan Amos says
scientists have shown how the insects will use the Milky Way to orient
themselves as they roll their balls of muck along the ground.
“Humans, birds
and seals are all known to navigate by the stars. But this could be the first
example of an insect doing so,” he writes.
Amos describes a
study by Marie Dacke of the Lund University in Sweden. An article on her
research published recently in the journal Current Biology.
Dr. Dacke, a
native of South Africa, had previously shown that dung beetles were able to
keep a straight line by taking cues from the sun, the moon and even the pattern
of polarized light formed around these light sources. But it was the insect’s
capacity to maintain course even on clear moonless nights that intrigued her.
In the field,
Dr. Dacke says she has seen beetles run into trouble when the Milky Way lies
flat on the horizon at particular times of the year. And, she suspects, many
other creatures might be similarly affected.
For centuries,
scientists have maintained that distant stars are too far away to have any
measurable impact on earth. But mounting evidence from the biological sciences
suggests an unknown mechanism does in fact appear to be at work forming
consequential connections between an omnipresent cosmos and organic life on the
planet.
Meditation moments: Basic Breathing Meditation
The most basic form of meditation involves attending
to one's breath.
Begin by sitting in a simple chair, keeping your
back erect if you can. The more traditional postures are the lotus position and
variations such as the half lotus (one foot on the opposite thigh, the other
out in front of the opposite knee). This is difficult for many people. Some
people kneel, sitting back on their legs or on a pillow between their legs.
Many use a meditation bench. But meditation is also done while standing, slowly
walking, lying on the floor, or even in a recliner!
The hands are placed loosely, palms up, one on top
of the other, and with the thumbs lightly touching. You may prefer to lay them
flat on your thighs, or any other way that you find comfortable.
Your head should be upright, but not rigid. The eyes
may be closed, or focussed on a spot on the ground a couple of feet ahead of
you, or looking down at your hands.
Now count the breath, on the exhale, up to ten. Then
you begin back at one. If you lose track, simply go back to one. Your breath
should be slow and regular, but not forced or artificially controlled.
A few weeks later, you may forego the counting and
try to simply follow your breath. Concentrate on it entering you and exiting
you. Best is to be aware as fully as possible of the entire process of
breathing, but most people focus on one aspect or another: the sensation of
coolness followed by warmth at the nostrils, or the rise and fall of the
diaphragm.
You will inevitably find yourself distracted by
sounds around you and thoughts within. The way to handle them is to acknowledge
them, but do not attach yourself to them. Do not get involved with them. Just
let them be, let them go, and focus again on the breath.
I
am holding a workshop in meditation as stress relief on the 14th
April from 10am-12pm at the Well Being Centre in Yamba. If interested please
